Molasses spill

The effects of the oil spill have been horrific. My heart goes out to the nature lovers in Hawaii, or anybody living there, human or not. People should respond to this immediately and we should treat it as if it was a tragedy happening here on land. Many people were upset by the spill, but more needs to be done than just tweeting about it. We as humans should all be aware of this and we all need to donate our time or money to fix this because whether we realize it or not, just because it occurred underwater, it will affect us. All the fish are dying, and if that does not upset you already than check yourself, sociopath. But because of this, Hawaii's economy will most likely take a huge hit from this. Hawaii is known for it's beautiful, life filled waters that are good for snorkeling, scuba diving, and fishing and now all three of these things are temporarily wiped out from this. But this will also affect the ecosystems of the Pacific Ocean that can have unpredictable results. Like increased amounts of shark attacks.

More should've been done to prepare for a situation like this. The Molasses industry is a multi million dollar thing, the question is, why with all this money and demand was no one checking to make sure the pipes were okay to use? More than that, after the BP oil spill it should NOT be okay to have underwater pipes carrying things that could have deadly effects on the underwater environment around it. What should be done next is to figure out what exactly the problem was and to make sure it can not happen again. And I feel like if something deadly like this happens again than we should abolish underwater pipelines. Mother Nature takes care of us, we as humans need to do more to take care of her. Because if we don't, who will?

Ocean Literacy

My Ocean Literacy has changed a little bit. The Earth has 1 big ocean, however, it is split into a bunch of different oceans with many different features. These features include different temperature, different animals that inhabit it, and it has different plants and ground level in each ocean. I do however think it is true that the ocean and its inhabitants shape the features of the earth. The ocean affects the weather, it affects the shorelines of Continents and it greatly influences diets of not just humans but every animal on the planet.  The ocean is the earths source of water and it is the sole reason why Earth can support life and no other planet can.
Because the feautures of the different oceans are so different there are many different ecosystems that support life of all different kinds. Like how the Arctic Oceans have animals that you would not see in the Indian Ocean. Without the Oceans, humans would not exist. Therefore we are forever connected to the ocean. We completely rely on the Ocean whether we think about it or not. The Ocean is very mysterious because we may think we know a lot about it but the fact of the matter is we don't know a lot. It is physically impossible so far to explore the farthest depths of the ocean and I feel like we never will... and I'm totally okay with that. Knowledge is important, but the mystery of the Earth is what makes life interesting.
